1 - These sleeves easily fit gatefold jackets and trifold records. I have even managed to fit a large old style Stoughton gatefold jacket in one of them, though with those extra-large jackets it is a bit difficult to properly seal the flap. The batch I have received from BagsXL contained uniformly cut sleeves and I did not have any problems (such as seam splits) when re-sleeving my gatefolds. Likewise, I did not have any issues fitting 3-4xLP records in these sleeves. They are both sturdy and flexible, which makes them the perfect fit for gatefold and trifolds, and they never look too small or too baggy.

2 - Unlike other reliable sleeves, such as the 400g polythene ones I have used for many years, these sleeves retain their crystal clear appearance and do not get cloudy. They do a great job at enhancing the cover artwork. If you like displaying your records but do not want to remove them from their sleeves when doing so, you absolutely need these sleeves.

After the many reports in Youtube etc. about the Blake Sleeves, I wanted to try it myself. Good that these are now also in Europe (thanks bag XL).
So far, I have used normal PE cases for my record collection that have basically served their purpose, but nothing more.

Blake sleeves are envelopes made of a very transparent plastic, which can also be sealed with the help of a tab and an adhesive strip. Thus, no dust can get into the case and thus not to the plate itself. The principle is known from comic book covers.

Advantages:
- BLPD are quite cheap. You pay about 50% of what normal PE cases cost

- BLPD are very clear. The album covers are very beautiful and colors are even enhanced. For me one of the most important aspects, because the cover for me is just as much art as the music itself.
The old PE films here were very milky and made the covers "lifeless".

- Normal 12 "LPs (even 180g presses) have a bit too much space in the BLPD cases, so I'd rather use the BLP1 cases here.
Double albums (eg 2x180g vinyl) fit very well. It is also possible to put the cover and the LPs (inside an inner sleeve) separately in the same BLPD case.
I think that also 3 LPs including cover would fit into it. There is still enough room left.

Bisher verwendetet ich die standart PE Schutzhüllen. Diese schützen die Platten auch sehr gut. Denoch haben sie Nachteile. Zum einen sind sie oben offen, somit kann Staub hineingelangen. Zum anderen sehen die Platten in den milchigen Hüllen nicht schön aus. Aber das sollen sie doch!
Dies waren die Gründe, warum ich mich für Blake Sleeves entschieden habe.

Im Grunde kennt man das System von Schutzhüllen für Comicbücher. Ein sehr klare Plastiktüte, die man mit Hilfe eines Klebestreifens oben abschließen kann.

Die Verarbeitung der BLPD ist richtig gut. Der Klebestreifen wirkt wertig und sollte das vielmalige Öffnen und verschließen gut aushalten.
In die Schutzhülle passt eine ganz normale LP 12". Diese hat dann aber unten und oben etwas Spiel. Hier würde ich lieber auf die BLP1 Hüllen zurückgreifen. Es ist auch möglich das Cover, und die LP in einem Innersleeve außerhalb des Covers, gemeinsam in die BLPD zu stecken.
Im Grunde ist diese Hülle aber für Doppelalben mit bspw. 2x180g Vinyl Scheiben gedacht.
Und diese passen perfekt hinein. Ich denke auch, dass 3x180g Vinyl Scheiben dort hineinpassen würden. Genug Freiraum wäre noch vorhanden.
Die Lasche, welche zum Versiegeln der Hülle verwendet wird, hat die richtige Länge und schließt sauber mit dem Klebestreifen ab. Somit können sich eigentlich keine "Eselsohren" bilden.

Weitere Vorteile der BLPD ist ganz einfach die Optik. LPs sehen wie neu aus und die Farben kommen richtig toll zur Geltung. Da macht es Spaß, das Cover zu betrachten.
Des Weiteren ist es möglich, den Rücken des Covers zu lesen. Somit kann man sehr schnell seine gewünschte Band im Regal finden. Das war bei den PE Hüllen nicht möglich, da dort die Schweißnat im Weg war.
Letztendlich ist noch der günstigere Preis der BLPD zu nennen, der fast die Hälfte von standart PE Hüllen ausmacht.

Der einzige Nachteil meiner Meinung nach ist, dass die Hüllen nicht die Festigkeit einer PE Hülle haben. Hier kann es vorkommen, dass vereinzelt die Seiten der Hüllen aufreisen, wenn man eine LP nicht vorsichtig genug hineinführt. Das ist mir persönlich aber egal, da ich mir für das gleiche Geld, was PE Hüllen kosten, doppelt so viele Blake Sleeves kaufen kann :-)

Fazit:
Blake Sleeves sind eine tolle Erfindung und geben der heimischen LP Sammlung ein ganz neues Aussehen.
Ich würde den Kauf der Hüllen empfehlen.

Those are the best sleeves on the market in my opinion. I used to use the standard non-flap and quite opaque sleeves that are sold everywhere, but these are much better. They fit 95% of the albums (the remaining 5% are rare ... though they can be expanded gatefolds or larger or taller thick covers). All the audiophile pressings are looking great with them, as well as older albums. Some covers seem brand new with them ! Plus the spine is some of the most readable you'll have.

Even old, less beautiful LP covers will do this.
What the covers will look like in a few years' time I don't know yet, but the first impression is very good.

The dimensions are above expectations. I have no covers, nor 3 doubles, that do not fit in this cover.
